The #1 Reason Why Diets Fail... (I bet it's not what you think)

I recently created a post on Instagram that tells you the #1 reasons why diets fail.

Want to see the actual post? Click here to get to it.

The message is important so I wanted to share it with you directly here too.

You might think that diets don't work because you don't have enough willpower or motivation.

But you do have that or you wouldn't keep trying to lose weight.

You might think that diets don't work because you've gotten "too old" and your hormones are out of whack.

But I've seen skinny "old" people, haven't you?

You might think that the particular diet just didn't work at all. Maybe it's all hype.

But the truth is... all "diets" work because they all follow the basic principle of eating less calories than you need. But they only work for as long as you can stick to them.

Now I want you to imagine that this is how you normally eat day to day...

  • Protein shake and granola bar at breakfast
  • Fast food lunch
  • Frozen meal or take out dinner
  • Dessert every day

And now imagine that your new diet has a sample day that looks like this...

  • Eggs cooked with spinach + oatmeal + cantaloupe
  • Grilled chicken + whole-grain pasta + squash
  • Protein shake blended with blueberries and spinach
  • Deli turkey (nitrate free) + whole-grain pita + hummus + celery sticks + grapes
  • Grilled halibut + whole-grain pasta + green beans + watermelon + olives

Do you see the problem? To make this work, you have to:

  • Stop going out to eat completely
  • Shop, prep, and cook all of your own food
  • Plan out when during the day you're going to make sure you get multiple servings of fruit or veggies in that you normally don't eat
  • Find recipes to help you do all of this because eating the few things you know how to cook everyday gets old fast

By the way, that was me - trying to go from very rarely cooking at all to trying to prep and cook healthy meals every day.

But maybe you already cook most of your own food and maybe you already eat fruits and veggies every day.

And that's great if you do - then trying to move to that meal plan is less of a change for you.

But for the rest of us, it's a true struggle

And it's the #1 reason why diets fail...

Trying to change too many things at once.

Today, I've stopped trying to change all the things at the same time.

Today, I try to get at least 100g of protein in each day [because as a woman of nearly 50, that is actually important]

And to eat 1 serving each of fruit and veggies per day.

That's it. 1

Because if I can't eat 1, I'm sure not going to eat multiple.

Once I can consistently hit that, I will increase it.

That's what makes your diet changes work long term. Small changes, done consistently, then stacked on each other.

I recently launched The NoCount Toolkit™, where I teach you how to determine what small changes you should be making based on where you are now in order to meet your goals.

And I teach you how you can do it without counting calories or macros ever again.
